A museum Wedding picture Story

For Sophie and Ben’s day I was back at the historic and enormously proportioned Royal Marines Museum, right on the Southsea seafront. They’d scored a perfect day with views across the the Solent over to the Isle of Wight, which looked close enough to touch. I’d been there before for weddings, and years ago for many press photographer news moments. I started the day as Ben and his best man arrived and were joined by their guests. Some couples might have been a little overawed by the scale of the stately hall in which they were married, but not Sophie and Ben who looked born to it. Sophie’s dad couldn’t have looked prouder as he escorted into the huge ceremonial hall where Ben was waiting. And Sophie’s smile carried the room throughout the ceremony. Sophie and Ben had seen the forcast, and cleverly arranged for an old fashioned ice cream van to turn up just as their guests spilled outside onto the cloistered balconies and into the vast hotel grounds in the sunshine. And when you get to a cake cutting picture, you can see how well she took to wielding a large knife! I was half expecting her to grab a sabre from one of the walls! It was a brilliant relaxed day with lovely people. You can’t beat a seafront wedding. And the museum is now being developed into a hotel. I can’t wait to be at this grand old place again. Below are a collection of pictures I hope give a flavour of this glorious day.
